Reptile Classes

Our reptile classes offer kids and teens a unique opportunity to learn about amazing animals through hands-on, age-appropriate education. Designed for ages 4 and up, each class focuses on a specific species and covers anatomy, natural habitat, behavior, conservation, and responsible care. Students observe and interact with rescued reptiles in a calm, structured environment that emphasizes respect for animals and safety for participants.

Classes are typically 45-60 minutes long and are offered as single sessions or as multi-week series that allow students to explore one animal in greater depth. Group sizes are intentionally kept small and adjusted by age to ensure meaningful engagement and safe interaction. Whether hosted at our rescue, in classrooms, or at community programs, all classes are led by experienced educators who are passionate about reptiles and committed to creating positive, memorable learning experiences for kids and families.

We will be presenting for the Amador County Library’s Summer Reading Program (RAWR!) on July 23rd @ 10:30am at the Scout Hut in Jackson. Come join us for some dinoriffic fun and meet some critters!

What to Expect

Expect hands-on fun, supportive staff, and a mix of structured activities and guided learning. These classes will be on individual species.

Includes:

● Hands-on learning with rescued reptiles

● Anatomy, habitat, care & respectful handling

● Small groups determined by age for focus & safety

60-minute class | Ages 4+

● $30 per child

4-week series | 1 class per week | 60 minutes each

(Each series focuses on one animal species)

● $110 per child (save $10)

Sibling Discount (same household):

● Families enrolling more than one child receive 10% off additional children

Best for children aged 4-12 years old (some classes will be listed for older kids)

    ● Within 25 miles: No travel charge

    ● Over 25 miles: Please contact us for a custom quote

  • ● A signed Hooverarium Liability Waiver is required for all participants

    ● One waiver is valid for all Hooverarium programs during the current calendar year

  • ● All reptiles are rescued animals, and their comfort comes first

    ● Animal participation may be adjusted or limited based on behavior, stress levels, or health

    ● Some animals may be view-only depending on age group or conditions

    ● Failure to follow safety instructions may result in removal from animal interaction

  • Single Classes

    ● Payment is due at enrollment

    ● Fees are non-refundable once the class begins

    ● If Hooverarium cancels a class, families will receive a refund or credit

    Monthly Class Series (4-Week Animal Focus)

    ● Full payment is required at enrollment

    ● Series fees are non-refundable once the series begins

    ● Missed classes cannot be refunded or rescheduled

    ● If Hooverarium cancels a class, a make-up class or prorated credit will be provided

    ● Classes modified or ended early for safety or animal welfare do not qualify for refunds

  • ● Classes may be modified, relocated, or rescheduled due to unsafe conditions (rain, wind, smoke, or extreme temperatures)

    ● For reptile safety, programs may be adjusted if temperatures fall below 65°F or rise above 90°F

    ● If Hooverarium reschedules due to weather or temperature, families will receive a credit or make-up class

    ● If families choose to cancel due to weather concerns, fees are non-refundable.
